David Hamilton was born and raised in Akron. He is a graduate of Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy (CVCA) and received his Bachelors of Arts in Sociology as well as minors in Criminal Justice and Criminology from the University of Akron. David earned his Juris Doctorate at the Thomas M. Cooley School of Law.
David is a licensed attorney in the State of Ohio and most recently was a Judicial Attorney for Akron Municipal Court Judge Ron Cable. He was formerly a Prosecutor for the City of Akron. Being a prosecutor taught him the importance of public safety and fairness.
David is currently serving his first term as the District 5 Representative for the Summit County Council. District 5 includes parts of the City of Akron, Copley Township, parts of Bath Township and the City of Fairlawn.
David is Chair of the Public Safety Committee and in 2017 sponsored legislation to create the Summit County Jail Advisory Commission. As Chair of that Commission David has brought together community leaders to spearhead the effort to provide advisory input of improving operations at the jail for both staff and inmates.
David is involved in many civic and non-profit organizations. He is a former Board Member of Victim Assistance, Kiwanis, and a current Board Member of AxessPointe Community Health Centers, Summit County Land Bank and the First Tee of Greater Akron. He is also a class 34 graduate of Leadership Akron.
David is passionate about helping people and it is his desire to use his skill set and legal background to give back to his community. He is currently a candidate running for Akron Municipal Court Judge.
